Macron to Iran: Do not touch French citizens or assets

French President Emmanuel Macron is no longer speaking in diplomatic riddles. In a direct phone call to Iran’s newly elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, Macron delivered three urgent demands with absolute clarity.

His message was firm. France will not accept any threats against its citizens or national interests, whether inside Iran or anywhere in the region.

Demand 1: Immediate Release of French Citizens

Macron demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, two French nationals held in Iranian prisons for over three years. He described their detention conditions as completely unacceptable.

“There is no room left for silent negotiations. We expect immediate action.”

Demand 2: Zero Tolerance for Attacks

Macron made it clear. Any aggression toward French citizens or assets will be seen as a direct act of hostility. This includes actions inside Iran or anywhere in the surrounding region.

“France will not tolerate threats. And certainly not acts of violence.”

This marks a shift in tone. France is stepping out of passive diplomacy and taking a more active stance in regional security.

Demand 3: Return to Nuclear Talks

Macron also urged Iran to immediately resume negotiations on its nuclear program. He stressed that diplomatic solutions are the only credible way to avoid further escalation in the Middle East.

A Region on Edge

Macron’s intervention comes at a moment of high volatility. Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated. Missile strikes, retaliations, and rising rhetoric are bringing the region closer to a broader conflict.

This message from Paris is not only directed at Iran. It is a signal to all actors in the region. France is engaged, watching closely, and ready to protect its citizens and global influence.

Final Take

Macron is not just defending two detained citizens. He is redrawing the lines of European diplomacy. No longer passive. No longer reactive.

This statement is not a suggestion. It is a warning. And if that warning is ignored, France will act decisively and without delay.
